What are terpenes?

Terpenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons that deliver flavour via plant alcohols or aromatically, that when combined make up the hundreds of diverse flavours found in cannabis and other plants such as lemons, oranges, cloves, eucalyptus, etc.

How many different kinds of terpenes are there?

There are well over a hundred terpenes and terpenoid groups that when combined can create over a million unique flavours and aromas.

What is the Entourage Effect?

Scientists have identified more than 60 unique molecules in cannabis known as cannabinoids such as THC and CBD as well as many other components including terpenes.

Terpenes are the molecules responsible for cannabis’ smell and taste and also promote or enhance cannabinoid binding which allows the brain to uptake more active ingredients and increase the delivery of THC and CBD for therapeutic treatment. In the short version, terpenes help the brain uptake more THC and CBD therefore maximizing the potency and benefits of your cannabis extract.

What is Homeostasis?

The tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes or any self-regulating process by which biological systems tend to maintain stability while adjusting to conditions that are optimal for a robust and healthy life.

Is using plant alcohol safe?

In most cases yes, provided you use caution and remember that it’s a flammable substance and its strong aromatics can cause irritation to some with nasal sensitivity or allergies. When used as a dip, most of the alcohol will have evaporated by the time you apply it to be consumed. If you find the dabs harsh, try allowing more time for evaporation.

How come my TerpDip™ doesn’t taste like Root Beer or the intended flavour when I dab sometimes?

Not all shatter is made the same, some extractions will retain parts of their original terpene profile and this can change the flavour of the dip, usually with very pleasant results. Some may find secondary flavours after inhalation such as with the Strawberry Cough which gets stronger if you cough but may smell more like cherries when exhaled.

Can I use TerpDip™ on raw cannabis?

No, due to the nature of the application process which uses plant alcohol to deliver flavour, spraying or applying the solution to raw cannabis will result in the alcohol squeezing the flavour molecules into small groups as it evaporates, damaging them and causing the TerpDip™ to take on an astringent, harsh flavouring.

What should I do if I spill my TerpDip™?

Use a wet cloth to wipe up the spill and rinse with warm water. A strong odour may persist for several hours. To eliminate odour, use a solution of baking soda and warm water to neutralize the terpenes. Avoid spilling or coming in contact with synthetic and natural rubbers or plastics.
